-Each application needs to be nominated by another colleague who knows you and your work. They will need to send us a statement of 100 words by the closing date, please ask them to do this.
-The roles will be confirmed via email, and an online vote will be held if necessary.

SECRETARY (three year post)
•Working closely with the Chair to coordinate activities of the group and making key decisions about the direction and oversight of activities;
•Circulating announcements of relevance to the research group on the research group email list (listserv);
•Acting as a key point of liaison between the RGS-IBG and the research group;
•Working with the Chair to coordinate the AGM;
•Attending an RGS-IBG Research Groups sub-committee meeting once a year;
•Working with other committee members to provide administrative and organisational support for events, notably with the Writing Retreat Officer;
•Attending committee meetings, typically two per semester;
•The Secretary must be a current RGS IBG Fellow.
EDUCATION OFFICER (three year post)
The role of Events & Education Officer is to develop GCYFRG’s burgeoning interest in research-informed teaching and teaching related activities. The post is relatively flexible as activities are led by the interests of the post-holder and the Research Group membership. However, the main responsibilities are likely to be:
•Keeping the research group membership updated with developments and opportunities for teaching on GCYF;
•Liaising with other committee members about the education-related interests of the RG membership and proposing/organising workshops and training in response to these interests;
•Encouraging the involvement of undergraduate and postgraduate members in RG activities;
•Attend committee meetings, typically two per semester.
MEMBERSHIP OFFICER (three year post)
This role involves maintaining the JISC mailing list. Tasks include:
•Monitoring membership in accordance with monthly reports from RGS-IBG;
•Sending 'welcome' emails to new members;
•Reviewing requests to join the JISC mailing list;
•Sharing information about the research group with prospective members;
•Posting messages to the mailing list for non-members (e.g. conference announcements);
•Support with wider research group initiatives (such as marking an undergraduate dissertation as part of our annual prize);
•Reporting details of membership numbers at the AGM.
The role involves a time commitment of around one hour/month. Timely responses to emails required.
POSTGRADUATE OFFICER (one year post)
•Promoting postgraduate interests and the needs of the wider Research Group;
•Leading the Researcher in the Spotlight initiative;
•Maintaining connection with the wider postgraduate community through the Postgraduate Forum and potential blog posts;
•Advocating for the wider postgraduate community;
•Support with wider research group initiatives (such as marking an undergraduate dissertation as part of our annual prize);
•Attending committee meetings, typically two per semester.
