GCYFRG
Mentorship Scheme

Our mentoring scheme exists to facilitate one-to-one support for group members

GCYFRG is delighted to announce the next round of our mentoring scheme.

The scheme is open to all children's geographers working in the UK or internationally. With a focus on academic mentoring, the scheme also invites mentors and mentees working in industry.

The programme will facilitate a six-month mentoring relationship intended to allow mentees to work on particular aspects of their career development, with a mentor who has expertise applicable to their development.

We also welcome applications to mentor from those with little or no formal mentoring experience, and will support new mentors across the process.

For more information, and before submitting an application please read this guidance below.

Our next round will run from March - September - 2024. Applications are sought from potential mentors and mentees.

Application deadline 17:00 on 08.03.2024.

Who is the scheme for?

The scheme is open to all members of GCYFRG; we particularly welcome applicants from groups traditionally under-represented in higher education and non-academic research roles.

Who can be a Mentor?

Applications for mentorship are invited from any research group member who has completed their PhD. We are looking for mentors with valuable academic or other professional experience to share with colleagues. We are also keen to support those for whom getting experience as a mentor is a relatively new and valuable aspect of career development

If you have any questions, please contact the GCYFRG Mentor Officer at catherine.walker@ncl.ac.uk
