2024 GCYFRG Dissertation Prize Winner
2024
The Geographies of Children, Youth and Families Research Group are delighted to announce the winner of our 2024 RGS/IBG Undergraduate Dissertation Prize. This year, we also included entries from the 2023 competition, which were rolled over, due to the Marking and Assessment Boycott.
Submissions were of an excellent standard showing innovation, theoretical development and critical thinking in research on the Geographies of Children, Youth and Families. We thank all of those who submitted an entry and congratulate the winner.
This year's winner is Kerys Perry, Cardiff University.
Kerys is the winner of the first prize of £100 and a one-year subscription to Children’s Geographies journal for her excellent dissertation on: Rural Cornwall: Assessing the Impact of Local Threats and Barriers on the Value of Green Spaces for Children in the Kerrier and Carrick Area

This year´s second prize was awarded to Kia Taylor-Powell, University of Cambridge
Kia is the winner of the second prize of £100 for her dissertation on “How the World Perceives us”: Uncovering the Experiences of Black African and Caribbean Students in Secondary Education

This year’s third prize winner is Chloe Robinson, University of Dundee.
Chloe is the winner of the third prize of £50 for her dissertation on: Short-Term International Volunteering and Young People: Intersections of Religiosity in the Formation of Subjectivities.
